Theme song revival

Got my theme song stuck in my head today after I took myself on a good walk for a couple of hours.

So here's what happened...  Went for a walk by the creek with The Girl and saw a Dog with Sharp Ears and I wanted to go say hello so I jumped in the creek and ran to meet him.  I have to say these Dogs can run! Apparently he did not want to meet me as much as I wanted to meet him so after a while I gave up chasing him and went exploring.  I was gone for a while then I crossed the super busy road and these nice people saw me and looked at my collar and hung on to me.  A little while later The Girl showed up and she was mad mad mad.  Since she was so mad, I didn't feel like it was a good time to do this but I couldn't help myself....after she put me in the car I got a funny feeling and all this stuff just started coming out of my mouth !  It was wild ! Kept coming and coming and then the car had a really bad smell and The Girl  had more angry words.

Then we got home and I took a nap.  Great Day !

I'm So Confused

Things have gotten back to normal after my strange year at The House With The Cats.  I live with The Boy and The Girl again.  They take me for walks and hikes and bike rides, they pet me a lot, and they even let me cuddle with them on the bed in the evenings.  The Boy takes me down to the creek so I can chase the stick and go for a swim.  The other day I swallowed a bunch of water while I was swimming in the creek and my breakfast magically appeared and I got eat it all over again!

There have been a lot of friendly petters who come and visit.  The Bouncy One and The Serious One come often (I heard The Girl saying The Bouncy One comes a little too often...).  I'm always very excited to see them and they spend a lot of time playing with me outside.  And there have been a few strange new petters like these guys.

They didn't take me for a walk, but they were friendly so I let them take their picture with me anyway.
The only thing about living here with The Boy and The Girl that I don't like is when they start drinking the red stuff or the brown stuff.  That's when they think they're so funny and they start talking to me as if I can understand them.  Usually when they do that, I just tilt my head to the side, which is my way of telling them that I don't understand what their saying, but that I'm trying really hard to get it.  It looks something like this:

"I'd love to understand you, but I just don't!"

Sometimes, I think The Girl has trouble understanding The Boy because he's talking to her and she makes the same face that I do.  She looks something like this:

"I'd love to understand you, but I just don't!"
I guess sometimes The Girl has just as much difficultly understanding The Boy as I do.

Into The Wild

I've been back at The House With The Creek with The Boy and The Girl for a while and let me tell you, it's been GREAT!  For some reason The Boy and The Girl are home with me all the time!  They never go off to the place where The Bouncy One and The Serious One go when they leave me all alone all day.  So I get all kinds of attention.  Sometimes, when The Girl is sitting down making clicking noises with her hands in front of a screen, I go over and put my head on her lap and she starts playing ball with me right in the house!  I hope The Bouncy One and The Serious One never find out -they probably wouldn't like that one bit.

But then a few days ago, I got really worried.  The Boy and The Girl started loading up for what looked like a long car ride.  I don't like long car rides because I get really queasy and also because usually I end up at a new house with new owners, like when I ended up at The House With the Cats.  I don't want anything to change -I have The Boy, The Girl, and The Creek and no cats!

But instead we ended up at The House With The Big Woods.  I like this place because I get to spend all day outside!  They never make me come back inside (although sometimes it would be nice to sleep inside.)  Anyway, at The House With The Big Woods lives The One Who Won't Touch Me, But Takes Me For Great Walks In The Woods.

Hanging in the garage with The Great Walker
Well, The Great Walker smells a lot like The Boy, just like The Serious One and The Bouncy One smell like The Girl, which makes me think that The Boy and The Girl are their puppies.  Anyway, The Great Walker doesn't like to pet me too much and I get the sense he's the one who won't let me come inside, but he makes up for it by taking me on great walks in the woods where I get to do anything I want!  I can explore and run around and sniff things, I can pee on whatever I want to and chase animals and I don't even have to walk with  anyone or stay on a leash!

So after a few days of this, I decided that I could take myself for a walk on my own in the woods.  Even though I could hear The Great Walker calling for me, I thought I'd try to make it on my own and see if I could join a dog pack in the wild.  But after a while, The Boy and The Girl came out into the woods and were calling for me so I came back because they're my pack right now and I don't want to leave them.  Also, I remembered I hadn't been fed breakfast yet.

When we got back in the car for one more long car ride, we ended up back at The House With The Creek!  I was so happy to be living at The House With The Creek with The Boy and The Girl that when I heard a loud noise, I just tipped my head back and howled.  I was so excited, I didn't even stop to take the ball out of my mouth before howling!

Where Am I?

Things have gotten pretty strange since The Boy and The Girl returned.  For a few days, The Boy and The Girl and I hung out at The House With the Cats and they spent a lot of time with me, but didn't take me on many walks.  They didn't appear to be doing anything important - just eating and staring into the box that makes noises.

Then the weirdest thing happened: we got into the car for a really long time - which I'm used to now but still makes me woozy - and ended up at The House with the Stream.  WTF?  I am always here with The Bouncy One and The Serious One and their friends.  I didn't bother checking to see if they were around - I went straight into my favorite room and rolled around on the floor.  It feels sooooo good.

The Girl drying me off
The next few days were so boring.  I remember The Boy and The Girl always used to do fun stuff with me. I would run along side them while they rode on these crazy metal things with wheels or slid on long sticks on the white stuff (humans are so weird).  At least they are normally very good ball tossers but there was no ball tossing at all the past few days.  All they do is unpack boxes and move things from one shelf to another.  I tried to hint several times what I was after by bringing over a ball and dropping it at their feet but each time all they did was toss it back into my mouth.

I miss The Bouncy One and The Serious One a lot.  I miss My BFF the Black Cat and how he would always bat my face when I sniffed him.  Oh, the times we had.  I'm happy The Boy and Girl are home but I miss the friends I made while they were away.  Sometimes I just stare out the window and remember The House with the Cats.

I even miss The Fat Cat
Luckily, things are improving around here.  The Boy took me on a super fun run today (where he was on the sticks on the white stuff) and I didn't misbehave at all.  I wanted to be super good so he'll take me again sometime.  This morning The Girl invited me up onto the bed and we cuddled for a long time.  The Serious One would have never allowed that.

I hope The Bouncy One and The Serious One come to visit soon.  And I hope they remember to bring up some nice artisan beer for The Boy and some organic coffee for The Girl.  They would love that.

If You Will It, It Is No Dream

I am the Happiest Dog in the World.

The Boy and The Girl came back to me.

The Bouncy One and The Serious One got in the car and drove away and when they came back the house doors opened and The Boy and The Girl were there and they were hugging hugging hugging me and at first I was wondering where their doggie and squirrel bodies were, but then I remembered they were really people and I wasn't dreaming and I was so happy.

Happy Family

Where the heck have they been??

Dream a Little Dream of Me

Now that  My BFF the Black Cat and the Hissy Stripey Cat spend most of the day on my side of the House, it has gotten a little boring.  It use to be more fun to spy on them, but now it's just normal days.  So, what I do now is sleep a lot.  And I had the most wonderful dream today when I was sleeping. I dreamed about The Boy and The Girl.  I haven't seen them for a really really long time and they looked a little funny in my dream.  The Boy was a little white dog but had the Boy's head.  The Girl was a squirrel but had the Girl's head.   This is what they looked like in my dream:

The Boy Dog

The Squirrel  Girl

But even though they looked funny, we still had a lot of fun in my dream and it was super nice to spend some time with them in my head.  The Boy Dog could not throw a ball, but he liked to run around with me.  The Squirrel Girl was always giving me treats.

Now, I love love love The Bouncy One and The Serious One and they love love love me back.  I have them so very well trained after all this time.  If The Bouncy One ever sits down for a minute, all I have to do is walk over and put my head on her lap and cock my head and make the "oh please" eyes.  Then she usually gives a big sigh and plays with me.  The Serious One is more reliable...he just takes me out every night without my asking or using my special eyes.

But I miss The Boy and the The Girl soooo much.  Maybe someday they will come back and pet me.  That is my real dream.

Where Everybody Knows My Name

One of the best things about the really really long car rides is when we stop at this special place where they give me treats and I don't even have to sit or stay or come or stop or jump or lie or heal or anything!

Who Stole the Cookie From the Cookie Jar?

Last Night, I was hanging out in the room with my BFF - the Black Cat. He enjoys sitting in the same place all the time… on top of  the comfy spot.   I would like to also say that the Stripey Mean Cat (My Non-BFF)  now comes over to my side too, but there is more hissy noises when he comes over.

Anywho… as I was saying, I was hanging out with My BFF the Black Cat and we were noticing that The Bouncy One was upstairs but had left some food on the table where they eat (they eat on tables, but put my food on the floor).  So My BFF the Black Cat jumped on the table and started licking something.  I thought, “I want some of that!”  So I decided to take the whole thing… the tasty part and the part that the tasty part was on.  I can’t tell you how deeeeeeeeeeelicious it was.  Soft and yummy.  My BFF the Black Cat watched me eat the whole thing in two bites and I can tell he was kinda mad at me.  That was when I came up with the tricky plan.

I decided to take the non-tasty part and bring it to him on the super comfy spot.  That way, it would look like he stole it and ate it. I dropped it off next to him and went to my bed.

Bad news.  My tricky plan did not work.  The Bouncy One walked in and saw the non-tasty part right next to My BFF the Black Cat and right away picked it up and looked at me and used the unhappy voice.  She didn’t even glance at The Black Cat.  HOW DID SHE KNOW I DID IT?????

My Not-So-Good Tricky Plan

White Girls Can Talk

I recently went to the House with the Creek and these people visited.   I think this picture gives you an idea how I saw the situation.

The WALKER (left) and the TALKER (right)

I was not sure I should allow her in my picture since she neither threw the ball or took me for a walk in the rain, but he seemed to like her so I allowed it.

In Trouble, With A Capital T

oh boy, I'm in trouble again.  Ran after a deer and kept going (with my leash on !)  Took myself on a good walk, but then this man grabbed my leash and put me in his yard and a little while later The Bouncy One came and got me.  I don't know why she was sooooo mad, I was FINE !   She was all cranky and really really wet because it had been raining for the whole time I was gone.

But good news - I got myself a theme song now:

My Brother From Another Mother

I have been living in The House With Cats for a very long time.  The black friendly cat has FINALLY decided that I am not going to eat him and so he spends all his time on my side of the house now.  I like it because he is interesting to watch and I don't chase him, because if I do, he will run away.   He licks himself a lot.  And he also moves around a lot....he is like the cat version of The Bouncy One... he will only sit still for a short amount of time and take a nap.

Me and My Bro

No Longer a Scaredy Cat

But here is what I don't understand:  They let him on the super comfy spots all the time.  This is not fair.  He jumps up and lounges around  and they don't yell at him!  I repeat, this is not fair.

The Not Fair Situation

Starvin' Marvin

It's been a busy week. I have enjoyed a lot of attention. I got to go to The Place With The Good Dog Smells where I got a very good bath and lots of walks. But this time when I was in the cage waiting for my next good walk, I noticed the head walking girl put a special piece of paper on my cage door. Here is the paper:

I think I got this special paper because every time I go by the little cages where they keep cats I get so excited and try really hard to meet them but get tugged and tugged away by the walking person. One time when I was going out for a stroll another walking girl came by with a cat in her arms and I thought, "wow they must really want me to meet this cat since they took it out of its cage and walked right by me!"   But that was not the case and when I tried to meet the cat there was much screeching and high voices.

There is one thing that happened that was very disappointing. The Serious One has brought home another giant bag of the not-so-good food for me. With this food I am always always hungry and get myself in trouble when I steal people food off the counters, like that yummy bag of crackers I enjoyed last night.

A Petter Visit

This must be a very important person.  She came to our house and spent a long long long time talking to The Bouncy One and The Serious One sitting on the super comfy spots.  She seemed to like me very much because there was lots of petting, but did not take me for a walk. At one point, The Serious One left the house and I thought maybe I would get a walk, but nooooo, they just sat back down and drank the red stuff.

When I woke up in the morning she was still there.  Of course she wanted her picture taken with me.  From now on, no pictures without a walk (except Santa).

King of the Mountain

I don't understand it, but for some reason they decided to take me to The House With The Creek where there is even MORE snow than the regular House with the Cats.  There is so much snow that I can not walk anywhere but where the cars go.  There is so much snow that The Serious One had to get on top of the house and throw the snow off.  Then the very next day, the house top had more snow again.  There is so much snow that we can not go to the Creek which makes me wonder about the whole reason for coming here.

One good thing.  There is a giant pile of snow that I can climb on. It is kind of hard and I like it when they throw the ball up there because the ball doesn't sink.

King of the Mountain of the Land with No Good Walks

Oh and by the way did I mention that it is super cold here?  I believe that when I do my business, it freezes before it hits the ground.

But we have been here many days and I like that they are with me a lot even though we can not go on good walks or throw the ball.   Here is something we did:   They made me look at the machine that The Serious One is always looking at.  When they make me look at this machine there is a picture that moves and there are voices that come out of it that sound a little familiar. The voices are saying "Let us Skype with Sylvester.... Hi Sylvester!  we miss you buddy!  how you doing boy?"   I have no idea what I am suppose to do in this situation.  These voices offer no treats or walks but seem very interested in me.  After I am done "looking" at the machine, The Serious One and The Bouncy One spend a very long time looking and talking to the machine.  And the machine talks back to them and I just keep thinking those voices sound soooooooo familiar.......

I feel Like I've Seen These People Somewhere Before

Does this coat make me look fat?

I am very sorry to say that I have been MISBEHAVING lately.  I can’t help it because it is boring boring boring.  Here’s what I like to do that gets me into trouble:

1.  Relax on the super comfy spots where the people sit.  Ever since I discovered how nice it is to sit on the super comfy spots I try to get there as much as possible when they are not home.  But, they can always tell when I have been lounging there because my fur is falling out A LOT lately.  The other day, The Bouncy One was giving me a good rub with the prickly thing and so much of my hair came out.

Me and the Giant Pile of Hair...  Do I look Slimmer?

 2.  I also like to find exciting things to eat around the house.  The other day they went out so I was investigating in the place where they make all the food that they never give me.  I found something that was not a super tasty treat, but I am always hungry these days so I ate it anyway.  I did not eat the not tasty part and left it on the floor. When The Serious One came into the house and saw the not tasty part, I got the “look” and the “angry voice” and I cowered so that they knew I was sorry.

The not tasty part....shouldn't have left it on the floor!
Even though I am sorry I will do it again because I am sooooooooooo bored and hungry.  I am really good at the “sorry look” and so I think they think I won’t do it again !

My "I'm soooooo sorry, I'll never do it again" look

3. When they yell “Come” I don’t’ come unless they give me a treat ..  so I wait until they yell “Treat” and then I come.

But I also have been very very good lately on some things.  Here’s what I do to be good:

1.  do my business in the place out the window with the cold white stuff on the ground without going for a good walk.

2.  don’t chase the cats when they come on my side.

3.  never ever never ever make noise like that crazy dog next door.

Perhaps if the white stuff every goes away I will get more outside time and won’t have to lie around all day or sneak the people food.

Winter Alfresco Dining

The cold white stuff, Snow!, has covered all of the outside world for a very long time and more came down last night.  This is good and this is bad.  One of the things that is very good about the white stuff is that I can see everything on top of it.  Like when I go out in the back yard and The Bouncy One let’s me run around with the long rope and I get away from her.  If I am very fast I can find all kinds of exciting things on top of the Snow!   There are always the yummy morsels that the dogs with really sharp ears leave around.  There are a lot of these dogs in the back yard these days… I think they live there now that the chickens are gone.  They are super scaredy cats though, because when I go in the back yard they all run into the woods.

One of the scaredy-cat dogs with sharp ears running away but leaving me tasty morsels

The other day I found a really really really good thing on top of the snow.  It was one of those big animals that fly around above the trees and make the honking sounds.  But this one was not flying and it looks like some other dog might have found it before me, because it didn’t look so good.   But I got several good bites off before The Bouncy One came by and tugged me away making all her shrieky sounds and jumpy moves.

This is a picture of Me when I come upon something in the Snow!

YUM

As I have said before… I LOVE SNOW  and the things on top of it !!

It's Finally Snow Fun Around Here !!

You may remember that I am mostly Alaskan Malamute (on my mother's side)  and was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains.   So I was pleasantly surprised many days ago when the cold white stuff started falling out of the sky.  For many days I waited patiently .... and  finally today I had a really good playtime outside.  I did all the things a dog dreams of doing in the snow...

First I made snow dog angels

Sooooo much fun

My work

Then I caught flying snowballs

They're colder than you'd think

Then I spent a really long time playing with the Big Orange Ball that is very hard to carry in my mouth.

One of the things that I love love love to do is snack on deer poo, but that gets big yells from the people of "no no no!!!" in the excited loud voices.   The Bouncy One also says "that's so gross!!!" in her special shrieky voice.

The Last Thing I like to do is write my name in the Snow !

I call it "calligrapee"

I ran out of pee before I could write "Happy New Year".

The Biggest Loser

Well the first thing I have to say is that the house is still a big mess.  Everything is off schedule too.  It use to be that everything was the same...and I like routine.  But now it is all tangled up and I don't know what to expect.  Today, for instance, I was sitting all by myself in the house and it was very lonely and I haven't seen The Bouncy One in days and she never takes me for walks hardly at all.  Which is why I believe that I have new food.  I think that I have gotten FAT because my playing has not been very good during all the festivities that are happening around here and all the disappearances and the not routine routine.

New, but not Improved, Food

Also there is much white stuff on the ground outside which is so much fun to run around in.  Maybe someone will run around with me soon.
